2014 New World Reserve- Library Wine

Our vines are sheltered in the foothills of Carter’s mountain in the Blue Ridge, Virginia. The red varieties were planted on the southern exposure slopes on our vineyards highest elevations allowing for maximum sun exposure and ripeness of fruit.

Winemaking Notes:

The grapes for New World Reserve are hand-harvested and sorted then gravity fed to tank where it undergoes a cold maceration for 4-5 days.  The grapes are then fermented entirely in stainless tanks at no more than 81° F.  After alcoholic fermentation, an extended post maceration allows for additional body and structure. Afterwards, malolactic fermentation in barrel softens the wine by removing malic acid. Only free run wines are used in New World Reserve and are aged in about 50% new and 50% 1 year old French oak barrels for 18 months before bottling.

Tasting Notes:

The New World Reserve 2014 is a full-bodied Bordeaux-type blend (52% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Malbec) with deep red color. This signature red showcases our best terroir producing a wine that is complex, round, and silky, with well-developed flavors of toasted oak, black currant, and black cherry. This wine is powerful yet elegant.
