Aromas of ripe plums, cherries, and blackberries, balanced with subtle notes of earth and spice. Cellar or decant prior to enjoying, or allow to age and enjoy for your next special occasion. Enjoy with soft cheeses, such as brie or goat. Terrific with lamb, aged beef, rustic stews and mushrooms.

Terroir:

This wine is made from 100% estate-grown fruit. Our vines are sheltered in the foothills of Carter’s Mountain in the Monticello American Viticultural Area (AVA). The red varieties were planted on southern exposure slopes. The clay strata includes a significant proportion of rocks, mainly shists from volcanic basalts.

Vintage Notes:

After frost in April led to a reduced yield, a mild summer and a warm, dry August and September resulted in wines with a great depth of flavor and structure for aging.

 

Winemaker's Notes:

This Bordeaux-style blend is left on the vine to mature to its peak before being hand harvested and hand sorted. It undergoes a cold maceration for 5 days before fermentation.  Extended skin contact rounds out the palate and integrates the rich tannins to seamless perfection. Finally, it ages in French oak for 9 months before bottling.
